Co-chapter Advisor, Mary Mikko

Welcome

Hello! My name is Mary Mikko and I am so happy to be a Co-Chapter Advisor for Beta Delta.

I graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice. After graduating I completed a year of post grad volunteer work through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Mobile Alabama. I volunteered as the Intake Assistant at the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program. In August of 2017 I moved back home to Traverse City Michigan where I began working at The Home Depot. In 2022 I was promoted to a Regional Inventory Supervisor and I moved to Saint Clair Shores where I proudly call that place home now.

I have been a volunteer with Gamma Phi Beta for the last six years as a Collegiate Chapter Supervisor before transitioning into this role. I also hold a position as a Risk and Policy Specialist. I have enjoyed my time volunteering as I enjoy being able to connect and mentor the women I work with. As a Collegiate Chapter Supervisor I was able to work closely with chapter executive boards and their advisory boards. I built relationships and connections to the women as well as the chapter. As the chapter advisor I hope to continue to build those connections and relationships with not just the women of the chapter but those that support them. I want these women to succeed not just as a chapter but individually in their personal lives. I believe in transparency and will do my best to always be honest and open with them.

When I joined Gamma Phi Beta I didn’t just join a social organization but I also found a family that was bigger than I could ever imagine. As a freshman I met women that would help me get through the next four years and beyond. I am still friends with those I met night one of recruitment and I couldn’t ask for any better friends. This sisterhood is amazing and a great place for women in any walk of life. It is a change and place for women to work together through school, personal, and work life and help find the perfect balance for everything. It sets you up for leadership roles, life skills, and friendships for life. I am excited to see what you get out of our amazing organization and sisterhood. Please feel free to reach out and connect as you can reach me at betadeltaca@gmail.com.

Co-Chapter Advisor Dawn Dewar

Greetings

My name is Dawn Dewar and I am delighted to be co-chapter advisor for Beta Delta at Michigan State University. Go Green!

I was initiated in 2010 as a founding member of the Eta Delta chapter at Grand Valley State University. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2012 and my Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership in 2016. I have worked as a Career Advisor for the College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2016 when my husband and I relocated from Grand Rapids to East Lansing

In my role as co-chapter advisor, I hope to establish a support system built on transparency, communication, and mutual respect. As someone who works in higher education, I strive to empower each sister to grow into smart, successful, compassionate women through the delicate balance of challenge and support.

Gamma Phi Beta found me at a pivotal point in my undergraduate career and offered a support system that guided me through the difficulties of completing my degree, graduation, securing full-time employment, and settling into adult life. This organization also provided me with a family I never knew I needed. I hope to continue the legacy of support through my advising instilling a sense of home for all past, present, and future sisters.

Should you need anything my door is always open!
